Hi, I’m Katie Sorensen, Nurse Practitioner and owner of Weight Loss NP. I graduated from Regis University with a Masters Degree in Nursing and became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2013. Before starting WLNP, I worked as a primary care provider and enjoyed treating people in all ages and stages of life. I have broad knowledge and experience treating all kinds of medical conditions and enjoy helping my clients at WLNP understand their health and wellness as a whole.
I’ve always had a special interest in helping people improve their health by losing weight. Growing up as a competitive gymnast I became intricately aware of nutrition along with the at many times complicated relationships with food and exercise that many people experience when they have struggles with weight and/or body image. I have a deep understanding and empathy for others who struggle with challenges surrounding weight, body image and healthy food relationships and it fuels my passion to support and guide them towards a healthier, more balanced approach to nutrition and fitness.
When GLP1 medications became available as a tool, I was quickly on-board, seeing them as the game-changers they have been in the space. I LOVE helping our clients lose weight and improve their health through our programs. Teaching and empowering my clients to reach and maintain their health improvements for the long-haul is top priority. Helping people feel more like themselves, and experience more energy and vibrancy truly lights me up! Your wins are my wins! Outside of work, my husband and I stay busy with our two kiddos. We love showing them all the beautiful parts of our home state of Colorado and spending time with our extended family here as well.
Hello! I’m Katie Ballard and one of the nurse practitioners here. I graduated from Regis University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in nursing in 2013 and then my Masters Degree in Nursing in 2017 to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. As a bedside nurse, I worked in the Neurosurgical intensive Care Unit at UCHealth for several years. I’ve always been passionate about health and nutrition, but during my years in the Neuro ICU I saw again and again how so many severe illnesses could have been prevented with healthy lifestyle changes. This motivated me to pursue my Family Nurse Practitioner degree so that I could help my patients be proactive with their health and help advocate for their longevity and quality of life.
Prior to joining Weight Loss NP, I practiced in primary care for 6 years and enjoyed working with patients from 2 days old to 102 years old. It really is such a privilege to serve my patients and help in their health journey. I believe we can heal our bodies so much with good nutrition and I’m here to support you wherever you are at. Being able to add in safe and effective medication has been such a breath of fresh air to really help my clients achieve their goals.
I am a Colorado native so outside of work I love to be outside, especially in the mountains with my husband and 3 wonderful boys (5, 2, 4 months). We also are in the midst of a never-ending home remodel. So I get it when it feels like life is so busy and it’s hard to prioritize yourself. Let us help support you and see what you can accomplish, you won’t regret it!
Hi, I am Kasey Topp a Physician Assistant with a background in in Family Practice for the past 10 years. I graduated with my Masters from CU Anschutz PA Program in 2013. I have had a passion for weight loss medicine since the beginning of my career. In PA school, I had a summer internship compiling and summarizing the research surrounding childhood obesity. Later in my career, I ran a weight loss program without the use of weight loss medications through the family practice I worked for. These experiences have given me a larger understanding of weight loss strategies using lifestyle change, and helped me to provide evidence based approaches to weight loss. I believe that a weight-loss plan needs to be individualized, and there is not one solution that works for every patient.
I have been using GLP-1 medications to help people lose weight for 10 years, but in family practice I started to feel like my hands were tied. When I would try to prescribe these GLP-1 meds through standard pharmacies, the cost would often be over $1000 per month. In 2023, I joined Katie Sorensen to help get patients these game-changing weight loss medications at a more affordable rate. It has been an absolute joy to see the way substantial weight loss has changed my patients' lives. I find when people lose 40+ pounds– they can often come off of some of their medications, their knee pain gets better, their back pain gets better, and they feel more confident. Weight loss is truly preventive medicine!
Outside of my job, I am passionate about gardening, cooking, reading, hiking, rock-climbing, running, and doing acro yoga.
Hello! I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Heidi, and I’m a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a deep passion for helping individuals feel their best through personalized, evidence-based care. I earned both my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2011) and Master of Science in Nursing (2020) from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. My clinical background as a provider includes experience in retail health/urgent care/primary care, giving me a well-rounded foundation in comprehensive patient care. In April 2024, I joined Weight Loss NP as a provider—but my connection to this work began long before that. Prior to becoming a provider with WLNP, I was a patient myself. Through GLP-1 therapy and supportive coaching, I experienced my own transformative weight loss journey, losing approximately 50 pounds. That firsthand experience profoundly shaped my approach to care and fuels my commitment to helping others achieve sustainable, life-changing results. I truly understand where you are and where you want to be—and I’ll be there to support you every step of the way.
In addition to weight management, I specialize in hormone optimization for both men and women, with a particular focus on perimenopause and menopause care. I am a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) and am deeply committed to supporting women through what can be a challenging and often underrecognized phase of life. Women’s health has long been undervalued, and I’m passionate about helping change that narrative. My approach to hormone therapy is grounded in functional medicine principles. Just because lab values are considered “normal” doesn’t always mean they’re optimal. I work closely with my patients to address root causes, optimize well-being, and support long-term health and vitality.
Outside of clinical practice, I’m a proud mom to three energetic boys (four, if you include my husband!) who keep life fun, full, and busy. I’m a Colorado native who loves staying active outdoors and embracing a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
I look forward to partnering with you on your journey to better health and wellness!
